ADCO Constructions will redevelop the Kew Recreation Centre next month, costing $65m in works.
The redevelopment will see ADCO transforming the current centre into a state of the art facility equipped for the community to access a range of improved health and wellbeing benefits.
ADCO won the tender against Buxton Constructions, Hutchinson Builders and Icon to transform the centre. The project is part of Boroondara Council’s plans to renew multi-purpose facilities to meet the broad, intergenerational needs of Kew’s growing community.
The redevelopment is supported by the Victorian Government which was outlined in the 2019-20 Council Budget and includes;
A learn to swim pool for swimming lessons, an aqua play pool, a secluded warm water pool for gentle exercise, a creche, larger change rooms, two indoor sports courts, health suites, separated health and fitness areas, a forecourt, cafe and party room.
ADCO will also redevelop the centre to ensure it is accessible to all community members by building a new ramp, a stroke support room, a lift and a sensory room.
In June of this year we reported that after a highly competitive tendering process, ADCO won the contract to demolish and rebuild St Albans Health and Wellbeing Hub valued at $55.1m.
ADCO is currently demolishing the current leisure centre to make space for a new hub which once completed will fit out with a 50-metre swimming pool with water slides, a 24-hour gym, community program rooms and more.
ADCO is also mid-construction of the St Albans Health and Wellbeing Hub which will be completed in 2022.
The Kew Recreation Centre is now closed for renovations and will be completed in December 2022.
