Alchemy Construct Chosen to Undertake Stage 1 of New ACMD Centre

Alchemy Construct has been chosen by St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne to undertake Stage 1 of the ACMD world-class medical centre.

The new ACMD Centre will be a state of the art medical centre for research and medical discovery and is a collaborative development between University of Melbourne, Australian Catholic University, RMIT University, Swinburne University of Technology, University of Wollongong, St Vincent’s Institute, Bionics Institute, Centre for Eye Research Australia, and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.

The centre will accommodate biomedical engineering research and space for medical projects ranging from bionics, implantables and regenerative medicine that radically improve patients’ daily lives.

ACMD will be located in the CBD on Nicholson Street and Victoria Parade and overlook Carlton Gardens.

In 2019, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced a $30m Federal Government funding commitment to the centre. Stage 1 will cost $10m in early works.

The centre will be funded by the Commonwealth and Victorian State Governments and has been designed by architects known for using innovative and urban design, Denton Corker Marshall.

Alchemy Construct is based in Melbourne and has a focus to prioritise modern, energetic, game-changing construction projects.

Decanting works have been undertaken on-site with Director, Jamie Nicolson commenting;

“Despite the setbacks of Covid in 2020 for our global community, our team, clients and collaborators have continued to push critical projects onward safely for the benefit of our communities.”

Alchemy Construct’s projects range from the building of; Abbotsford Primary School which cost $8m in repairs, Royal Melbourne Hospital Stroke Unit valued at $9.3m and Monash Art Design and Architecture (MADA) valued at $13m.
