The Victorian Government has announced a $1.18b package to boost construction projects and provide over 1,600 new jobs in construction.
Premier Daniel Andrews and Minister for Education James Merlino said this package is designed to rebuild education infrastructure and support new jobs.
This funding is part of the $2.7 billion Building Works package that will build the projects that matter to Victoria and create the jobs that matter to Victorians.
The billion-dollar building program is in addition to the $6.1 billion already invested by the state Government in 2014, which has supported more than 7,500 construction jobs and will restore new opportunities for local businesses in the sector.
It is expected that the projects will create space for over 21,000 students across various communities in Victoria. The projects will begin as soon as possible to support local construction businesses across the state during the COVID-19 recession.

Shepparton will be getting its first world-class secondary school in early 2022. $119 million has been allocated to finish the construction of Greater Shepparton Secondary College.
This project will create around 300 jobs in construction and will deliver new and improved facilities to students and teachers.
Many of these projects will deliver key election promises made in 2018. Part of the funding will rebuild Clifton Creek Primary School which was destroyed by bushfires in early 2020.
Victorian schools will also have a share of $10 million to go towards their infrastructure modifications for the 2021 school year.
"It just makes sense,” said Premier Daniel Andrews. “By investing in our schools, we're giving our kids the classrooms they deserve – and importantly, creating thousands of new jobs."
More information on project timelines is to come.
