GURNER™ has formally submitted plans for its $1.25 billion Budds Beach mixed-use resort project, La Pelago.
The development will be set across 13,000 sqm, and will comprise four towers of luxury residential apartments, 5-star hotel rooms, international hospitality and retail.
The project, a joint venture with Wingate, has been architecturally designed by Warren and Mahoney and international landscape firm SWA, with a private island theme, by which each tower is surrounded by landscaping and pools to create an archipelago of amenities.
The towers range in capacity, with between 95 and 350 apartments each, alongside a 200-room 5-star hotel, over 12,000sqm of resident and hotel amenity and over 5,500 sqm of hospitality and retail space.
Each tower will range in height from 29 to 57 levels, and a world-class ground floor retail precinct to anchor the development together.
A 2,000 sqm private health and wellness club will also be onsite, alongside a day spa, business club and commercial and conferencing amenities.
GURNER CEO Tim Gurner said the project will be a unique new experience.
La Pelago will be a “new world experience for a beachside precinct that will be unlike anything ever attempted in Australia before,” he said.
“When designing this project it was really about me dreaming about where we all want to be right now and for me that is a hot and sunny luxury private island… something right now you cannot get in Australia.
“We have spent the last eight years identifying opportunities to transform significant sites across Australia into luxury precincts well before others jump on the trend.
“La Pelago will allow us to draw on our unique experience in the retail, signature amenity and urban regeneration space, and apply it on a grand scale,” Gurner said.
The billion-dollar development will be GURNER’s second in Queensland, after its FV development in Brisbane opened in 2019.
GURNER has recently acquired a number of sites in Melbourne for luxury mixed-use developments, including a former church in Prahran which will be converted into a luxury residential and hotel concept – Club Maison.
The developer is also set to inject $1.4 billion into Chapel Street’s famed Jam Factory for an office, hotel, residential, retail and entertainment complex.
La Pelago is before council planning, and GURNER plans to launch the first stage of the project later this year, upon approval.
Kapitol Group are hiring for a talented Quality Coordinator to join their growing team in Melbourne. View the job description here and apply today!
