Hacer, Kane, Icon, and Hansen Yuncken Announced for IGLU Student Accommodation
A new tender has been announced for IGLU student accommodation in King Street, West Melbourne.
The project has been designed by Yuncken Freeman and proposed by Bates Smart to be built within a budget of up to $50m.
The accommodation will sit above the original building which was built in 1955 and identified as a “B” graded building in the Melbourne City Council’s Heritage Inventory.
In 2016, the site was sold to foreign investors for $14.6m.
The student accommodation tower’s design will retain the facade of the building with new developments made to the interior.
Hacer, Kane, Icon and Hansen Yuncken will tender for this project.
