Hacer has announced they are the builder for Grocon’s new Richmond Quarter project valued at approximately $200m.
Earlier this year we reported that Grocon had invited Icon, Hacer, Probuild and Multiplex to tender for the mixed-use redevelopment at 271 Bridge Road.
The project will include the development of a new Coles supermarket, offices, vintage cellars, a ground floor retail precinct and dining area, gym, and 300 apartments with 700 car and bike spaces.
The commencement of building Richmond Quarter starts in three weeks and will employ around 35 full-time Hacer staff.
The development will have single ownership and will be under the built-to-rent scheme, opening up more affordable housing in the inner city.
Hacer will soon work on redeveloping 7,400sqm of ground floor retail, 3,100sqm of commercial office and 368 new apartments across five buildings.
The 12-storey development has been designed to minimise any impact on the heritage-listed building facade.
According to Heritage Council Victoria, 271-273 Bridge Road, was created in 1850 as the main thoroughfare from Melbourne to the Eastern Suburbs.
Recently, Hacer completed stage two of the Manor Lakes Shopping Centre development which includes a single level extension to the existing Coles Centre, providing over 20 additional retail tenancies, four food tenancies, a kid’s playground, as well as over 800 new car spaces.
Recent residential projects in Melbourne by Grocon include;
Denmark Street in Kew which comprises a 10-storey development with apartments and views to Melbourne’s city skyline and Greenwich in Fairfield, a medium-density residential development comprising 77 apartments and valued at $40m.
