Kane Constructions has been announced as preferred builder for Quintessential Equity’s $85 million office building development in Geelong.
The building, designed for GMHBA Insurance as anchor tenant, will also accommodate Victory Corporate Serviced Offices and Morris Finance.
The development is part of a wider push to promote Geelong as a destination for businesses and government agencies, with Quintessential developing a new building for WorkSafe Victoria, and Kane having delivered the awarded National Disability Insurance Agency building in January this year.
Kane has a number of projects in the pipeline in Geelong, including the second stage of the Balmoral Quay residential development in Rippleside.
Fronting onto Corio Bay, the development consists of 14 boutique townhouses and 9 apartments, with an approximate land area of 22,000sq m.
Kane is also currently working with Deakin University to deliver a $23m refurbishment of the KA Building in Waurn Ponds, due for completion in July 2020.
The project’s scope includes the infilling of an existing courtyard to accommodate more space on levels 3, 4 and 5 of the building.
Deakin Uni have also engaged Kane to construct its Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation (IISRI) building, slated for completion in February 2020.
In the community sector, Kane is due to reach practical completion on the second stage of the Geelong Arts Centre redevelopment, which has included the demolition and reconstruction of a number of buildings, delivering new studio and rehearsal spaces and improved access to the existing Playhouse Theatre.
Kane also successfully delivered the project’s first phase in 2010.
Conecta will provide updates on the project as they occur.
