We are a high energy company and anyone joining us does so at a very exciting time. We strive to be exceptional in our building, project management and customer service. We exist to create unique places and innovative spaces. We are original, accountable and responsive. We regularly remind ourselves that we must always be aware of our moral responsibility and use our skills in philanthropic ways, and as a business we strive to leave a positive legacy.

Jamie Nicolson MD: ‘ To be exceptional in our project delivery, to exceed our clients expectations and to always approach our projects with a positive and passionate attitude.’ Culture is everything to our business. We strive to create an environment where nobody wakes up and dreads going to work. We believe high performance happens in an environment where you feel valued, appreciated, where the structure helps support you and fosters confidence. We have worked in every sector of the building industry. We strive to bring our Tier 1 experience and the Tier 1 level of sophistication to every project we do. We have innovative systems and processes which help to nurture new talent and provide huge opportunities for career growth. We have experts and mentors within the business with decades of experience always able and very willing to help nurture the new generation of construction professionals. We believe that character is priceless and the character you bring to an organisation is a fundamental component of success within that business.

We focus on building very positive relationships on our projects with our clients and the rest of the project team – on building project teams that work well and cohesively together. Recent Projects

Point Cook Community Learning Centre
Alchemy Construct undertook the redevelopment of the Point Cook Community Learning Centre which sought to improve existing Council operations and provide space for expansion to meet demands on existing services delivered to the local community. The upgrade delivered more space for learning activities, new meeting and study rooms with effective separation of ‘noisy’ and ‘quiet’ activity zones. The Library expansion included a new silent study space, group study rooms and a large activity zone, as supported by the Victorian Government’s “Living Libraries Infrastructure Program”. Fresh landscaping also created spaces that connect to the nearby wetlands and provided a modern and calming sense of arrival for the Point Cook community. Architect: Croxon Ramsay

Royal Melbourne Hospital Stroke Unit
Alchemy took on this incredible project which entailed a fit-out of the level 8 shell of the 1B building at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Delivering 31 dedicated stroke unit beds with 10 of those being high dependency beds (HDU). The new unit will provide world class care for stroke patients as well as patients with other neurological conditions. Working in a sensitive hospital environment required detailed staged works to address secure and isolated construction at all times. Alchemy Construct ensured ongoing emergency pedestrian pathways were maintained at all times, alongside appropriate service isolations and other safety provisions crucial to the 24/7 hospital environment. August 2018 – September 2019
We are a very culturally diverse business, our team come from all around the world and have construction experiences in many different countries which is of huge benefit to us all. What makes Alchemy special is this cultural mix and the inclusivity which is central to our business. We are continually striving to improve gender balance in our sector and we are always striving to be well above the national % averages on gender equality. We have a huge variety of ages and great experience within the business from our young cadets to some of our Site Managers with 30-40 years experience in industry. We are strong supporters of the LGBTQ Community and we strive to create a workforce that bucks normal trends and shows real cross representation across society.
We are proud members of the GBCA – The Green Building Council of Australia. Alchemy’s commitment to environmental responsible contracting is at the forefront of everything we do. We’re accredited to ISO 14001:2015, and make every effort to maintain the delicate balance between responsible development and building works while preserving the environment. We’re proud to play our part in achieving strict Environmental Management systems on our sites; we have specific real targets, and track these “deliverables” to ensure the best environmental outcomes on every project. Given our vast work in the government space our environmental and sustainable credentials must be second to none.
We are using the most modern technologies to help us build in the most sophisticated way we can. We strive to be at the forefront of all the changing technological innovations within our sector and implement those that we know will help deliver projects in a successful, innovative way. We always encourage our staff to think outside the box and come up with solutions for constructing buildings cleverly. We were recently nominated for a Property Council Innovation Award for moving from a traditional build method to exploring modern technologies and alternative products to ensure programme and budgets were achieved on a recent school job.
We pride ourselves on our culture. It is one of the most commented on parts of our business. Our recent staff survey showed that our team feel valued and respected and part of a family environment. Every decision we make and every plan for the future has strong and healthy culture at the absolute core. We believe this has been a huge part of our success to date as a business and it’s something we never compromise on.
