2Construct have been announced to build the new home of Australian Golf on what is the current Sandringham golf course, in the Victorian Sandbelt.

The new ‘Australian Golf Centre’ will cost $18.8 m and is supported by the Victorian Government as they invest a generous $15.3 m into the new club quarters.

The new centre will unify Australian Golf and be home to; Golf Australia, PGA of Australia, Golf Victoria and Sandringham Golf Links Management.

2Constuct will gain an estimated 24 extra jobs as a result, with their portion of the contract worth an estimated $9m.

Ogilvy Cocking and Mead architects were responsible for designing a spacious, state-of-the-art course.

Their plans feature a full 18-hole course, a cafe and a 30-bay driving range with target greens expected to hold national golf tournaments.

Indoor short and long game courses, training facilities, office buildings, meeting rooms, education spaces and public amenities will also equip the centre.

Programs held at the centre will be inclusive to people with disabilities with PGA professionals on-site to teach and guide visiting guests.

Plans also include a number of Indigenous vegetation and trees to flourish across the site.

Since 2011, 2Construct has been building its local sport-construction portfolio with the development of multi-million dollar parks and stadiums across Victoria.

In 2018, 2Construct completed a $2.8 m multi-sports stadium for the City of Monash.

Projects completed by the group also include the 500 sqm Docklands Park Pavillion, Wesley College’s sports hall, and Keilor Park Basketball Centre.

Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, Mr. Martin Pakula made the comment that, “Golf is a great employer at the local and elite levels and investments like this are important in setting up the industry to thrive on the other side of the pandemic.”

The project is estimated to be completed by April 2021.
