Complete your Conecta Profile in Full
Here’s a list of each section of your profile and what to include.
It doesn’t matter if your status is ‘actively seeking’ or ‘passively open’, if you want to be the driver of your career, you’ve got to put some thought into what you tell a potential employer when you’re in front of them.
- Profile image
- Mobile Number
- Current Job Title
- Experience Level
- Location
- Summary (Pitch)
- Experience
- Projects
- Attach your CV
Profile Image
Upload a profile image. People like to feel connected and there’s no better way to do this than putting a face to a name. Ensure the image is of you at work. It doesn’t need to be professional, just a true depiction of who you are. Bear in mind, if you’re trying to move into a more corporate or senior role, upload a photo of yourself looking like you already have the role.
Eg. Copy what someone in that role wears day to day, take a pic of yourself and upload it to your profile.
Ensure your full name, mobile number, current job title, experience level and location is correct.
Mobile number
An employer is able to message you directly inside your Conecta dashboard, however it always pays to be as accessible as possible, so include a mobile number where they can reach you.
Project value experience
Employers are able to search Conecta by Tier experience level bands, to shortlist the people with experience managing the project values related to each Tier, so add your experience level to be searchable and matched.
Summary
This is one of the most crucial elements of your profile. Don’t just summarise your experience here; your CV and your profile already do that. This is where you get to tell potential employers what YOU want for your next role or career path.
Define your goal
Think about what it is you actually want. Without a defined goal, you’ll never get there! Some people get a little scared with this concept but defining a goal doesn’t mean it’s set in concrete and it certainly doesn’t mean you can never change your mind! A defined goal just gives you somewhere to aim.
There’s no limit on the amount of times you can change a goal. You may decide today that you’re interested in becoming a Construction Manager in the future. You start along this pathway and then another role takes your fancy or you decide that being a CM isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. That’s OK. Simply tweak your goal and move forward.
Most career journeys don’t follow a straight line from A to B. Careers take a lot of twists and turns along the way. That’s simply the way life is and if you remember it’s all in the journey anyway, you won’t feel pressured to reach your destination before you’re ready.
Rather than this:
They look more like this:
So, here’s the steps to summarise your next goal:
What do you want? Why do you want it? Do you have the experience to make you a good fit for your goal? If you do, explain briefly how it makes you a match to your goal role.
If not, what are you currently doing to learn the skills required for this job?
OR
What led you to choose this job goal and what skills do you already have that map across to it?
It’s all about telling people what you want, why you want it and what makes you a good fit for it (even if right now you don’t have the exact experience). It’s taking potential employers down your dream career pathway and telling them why they need to help you get there.
Experience
Complete your last 5 years of work history. It gives Conecta the ability to better smart-match you to roles and gives the employer a snapshot view without needing to read your whole CV.
For each past role include:
- Your title
- The projects you worked on
- Your responsibilities
Projects
Search and select all the projects you’ve worked on from the project list. Conecta also matches you to roles and companies based on this information.
CV
Lastly, upload your current CV if you’d like to share more details of your projects, work experience and anything else that will help potential employers see how amazing you are.
