Quintessential Equity’s $85 million office building development in Geelong is hot property, with GMHBA secured as anchor tenant, and tenders submitted by Kane, Watpac, Icon, Built and Adco.
The fit-for-purpose building is also set to house Victory Corporate Serviced Offices and Morris Finance, making it almost 85 per cent full.
The Cox Architecture-designed building, at 60 Moorabool Street, will comprise 11,000 sqm of ‘Grade A’ lettable office space, across 9 levels, the first three committed to GMHBA.
The mixed-use development will also feature 775 sqm of retail commercial space, an underground car park and state-of-the-art end-of-trip facilities, accommodating around 900 employees.
The building was designed to replace GMHBA’s headquarters, which had been operational since 1963.
GMHBA chairman Jim Walsh commended Quintessential Equity, which also developed the WorkSafe building at 1 Malop Street in the Geelong CBD with Built Constructions, for its commitment to reinvigorating Geelong, and repositioning it as a destination for businesses.
“Helping reinvigorate central Geelong is a key business decision for us. The lifestyle is very attractive and the area is full of opportunity – it’s why Quintessential Equity looks to Geelong in our property acquisition strategy,” Walsh said.
Geelong’s growth is lucrative for a number of Tier-1 companies, including Icon Co, which is constructing student accommodation at Deakin University’s Waurn Ponds campus.
If awarded, the project would add to Kane Constructions’ sizeable pipeline of builds in the coastal city.
Kane is currently nearing completion on the second stage of the Geelong Arts Centre redevelopment, and working on a number of projects at Deakin University, as well as residential development Balmoral Quay.
