A 168-room Hilton hotel will open in Melbourne’s northern suburb Bundoora, forming a new part of DealCorp’s $500 million Polaris 3083 development.
Set to open early 2021, Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora will feature an all-day dining restaurant and bar, a fitness centre and 127sqm of event space.
Dealcorp Executive Chairman David Kobritz said “the hotel will serve the adjoining La Trobe University and the growing corporate and residential markets in the north.”
The Bundoora outpost will be Hilton’s third in Melbourne, with the New York-based group opening a 244-room hotel in the CBD, developed by M&L Hospitality.
Hilton also has a fourth location in its pipeline, a 600-room hotel to join OSK’s $2.8 billion Melbourne Square development in Southbank.

“We are deeply committed to the Melbourne market and expanding Hilton’s presence beyond our existing DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne – Flinders Street,” said Heidi Kunkel, vice-president of Australasia operations at Hilton.
“The signing of Hilton Garden Inn Bundoora, along with the newly signed Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street and Hilton Melbourne Square properties, further solidifies this commitment,” Ms Kunkel said.
The Polaris 3083 development, and inclusion of Hilton in the area, are part of a broader approach to reposition Melbourne’s north as a destination, and La Trobe University’s vision to create more local jobs, innovation and economic growth.
The 26-acre development’s first stage was built by Hacer, and completed in 2013. It comprises 64 apartments across five buildings, with ground floor retail, cafes and restaurants, including Woolworths and Dan Murphy’s.
Goliath Construction (formerly Steller) is currently completing work on the latest stage of the development, a division of 70 townhouses named Lunar.
Assignment of a preferred builder for the hotel is still pending, and will be shared as soon as announced.
