Probuild has been named preferred builder for the Lanson Place boutique hotel in East Melbourne.
The development, at 502 Albert Street, is valued at $60 million, and will comprise a 15-storey hotel with over 140 suites, ground floor retail and dining spaces and shared amenities including a pool, spa, gym and lounge & breakfast area.
The land had originally been earmarked for a 27-storey residential tower by Chinese-backed developer Woodlink, however plans for the site were revised in 2018.
Lanson Place is a boutique hospitality group based in Hong Kong, which currently operates nine hotels across Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Malaysia. 502 Albert Street will be the group’s eleventh hotel, with the tenth expected to open in Manila next year.
Lanson Place describes its hotels as ‘personal hotels’ for extended stay guests. Its first Australian outpost has been designed with the young professional traveler in mind, prioritising connectivity and service.
Mrs. Karen Li, Executive Director of Lanson Place, said, “This is an important milestone as we first set foot in Australia… we look forward to a successful project and bringing new excitement to Melbourne.”
Probuild has been named preferred builder after a competitive tendering process, beating out Kane, Hacer and Crema for the project.
Lanson Place Parliament Gardens is expected to open in 2023.
