Student accommodation owner and operator Scape Australia has a number of projects in the pipeline for the education capital.
Having taken over the Atira portfolio, a $700 million deal with facilities in Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne, Scape is now the largest off-campus provider of student accommodation in the country.
Scape is also the frontrunner in a bidding war for the Urbanest portfolio, said to be worth over $2 billion.
Scape currently has 2500 student rooms in operation, with plans for more than 8000 new rooms to open over the next five years.
We’ve wrapped up the scope of Scape’s Melbourne offerings, whether in the planning, construction or completion phase.
393 Swanston Street, CBD
Completed in April 2018 by Built, Scape 393 Swanston is the first of the group’s offerings in Melbourne.
Replacing a 7 storey structure, the new building, designed by Denton Corker Marshall, rises 47 storeys with 763 beds.
99 Franklin Street, CBD
Set for completion in 2021, the building will rise to 175 metres, with 61 floors and room for 950 student beds.
The mixed-use development, set across 10,400 sqm will feature 9 floors of commercial space and 48 floors of residential. Each dwelling is 6.6 sqm, with office capacities from 791 sqm to 1,206 sqm.
Under construction by Built, the Franklin Street site will be the world’s tallest student accommodation tower.
557-591 Swanston Street, Carlton
Approval for a third location in Carlton was granted earlier this year.
The building at 557-591 Swanston Street – the site of the original CUB brewery – will comprise mixed-use student accommodation and retail spaces.
The original brewery facade, acquired from Grocon in 2015, will remain, with the high-rise component to soar 30 floors, delivering 870 student beds.
