Shopping centre giant Vicinity Centres has announced the latest project in its Chadstone expansion – a nine-storey office tower.
One Middle Road will be a 20,000 square metre office building designed to accommodate more than 2,000 direct and indirect full-time workers.
The development, which is part of a push to capitalise on the exodus of CBD office workers, is part of a $685 million upgrade approved by Stonnington council in 2019.
Vicinity’s General Manager – Mixed Use Development, Truman Dare, said the tower will further integrate Chadstone’s offering of retail, dining, entertainment and accommodation, creating a work and lifestyle hub to rival CBD workplace offerings.
“One Middle Road offers nine-storeys of energy efficient, state-of-the-art, campus-style office space and incorporates an outdoor Sky Garden – a first of its kind for office workers at Chadstone.”
The building will target a 5-star Green Energy Rating and an International Living Future Institute zero energy certification.
One Middle Road will provide 2,250 square metre floorplates for businesses, as well as first-class amenities including end-of-trip facilities to encourage sustainable travel to work and a ground floor childcare facility.
Construction on the tower will move ahead once Vicinity Centres has confirmed an anchor tenant for One Middle Road, with the view to it being complete by 2024.
Site Managers with strong experience and looking to move into senior roles are welcome to apply for this Senior Site Manager role at arete Australia.
Probuild, Multiplex, Maben and Hickory are likely to tender for the project.
Probuild has been appointed to previous Chadstone expansion stages, completing every expansion to the retail centre since 1988.
They are also working in the south-east, partnering with Beck Property Group and Reshape to construct the Caulfield Village build-to-rent precinct.
Hickory has worked with Vicinity to deliver a number of expansions to Chadstone, including most recently Hotel Chadstone and the adjoining Chadstone Link walkway between the hotel and shopping centre.
Meanwhile, Multiplex’s recent builds include Melbourne’s biggest mixed-use development, the $400 million M-City Monash, which comprises three residential towers, a hotel, office tower and shopping centre in nearby Clayton.
Maben are currently building the EastCo office tower fitout in Ringwood, annexing Eastland Shopping Centre.
